I am a Professor of Education at Durham University, where I have worked for the last 13 years. Before that I worked for the National Strategies as an adviser, was Head of Education at University of Hull, and taught in four schools, latterly as a deputy headteacher.
I have written more than 50 books on primary education, as well as six novels, two of which were written with children in schools. I continue to teach in schools regularly, drawing upon my novels as starting points for a activities.
