This resource focuses on what makes a good location for a settlement. Students analyse four images of contrasting locations: a woodland, a snowy landscape, a desert and an area of rolling hills. They are asked to suggest advantages and disadvantages of each of the four landscapes as potential settlement sites. This would make an ideal starter activity and allows for class discussion.
