This is a decision making simulation activity in which GCSE students take on the roles of the USA, the USSR or East Germany during the U-2 crisis. They are confronted with a series of events, and must prepare a public statement and a private response to each. Detailed background information for each group is provided to enable this. Starter, enquiry question and plenary discussion suggestions are suggested in the teaching notes. This resource would make an engaging active learning activity.
