How to use this resource
Split your class into teams of four and pair opposing teams together. Each team takes turns defining key terms without using the word itself or any taboo words listed on the card, whilst the opposing team checks accuracy and definitions. Set a time limit (three minutes works well) to keep the pace snappy and the energy high. Students rotate as speakers each round, ensuring everyone gets a chance to practice their oracy skills. At the end, you can hand out the 'Checkers' cards' as a handy revision aid. It's competitive, collaborative, and a brilliant way to embed those tricky practical terms that so often trip students up in exams.
