Le Petit Nicolas: je suis malade

Using a short extract from 'Le Petit Nicolas', this resource will help students get used to reading authentic French literary texts – an essential skill for GCSE French. The extract is available via an online link in the teaching notes. It is a humorous description of the doctor's visit to see Nicolas, who is suffering from a stomach ache. 

The worksheet is designed to make the text accessible, with a highlighting task and a 'find the French' exercise, as well as comprehension questions. A creative writing prompt is included, to give students the opportunity to continue the story themselves.
